SMC TigerSwitch 10/100/1000 Managed Layer 2 Switches (SMC8126L2) to Support the High-Bandwidth, High-Availability Requirements of the IBM CloudBurst Infrastructure

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- SMC Networks(R), a leading provider of advanced, high performance networking solutions for the SMB and enterprise markets, today announced that the SMC TigerSwitch(TM) 10/100/1000 Managed Layer 2 Switches (SMC8126L2) have been selected for use in IBM's CloudBurst(TM) demonstration at VMworld 2009 from Aug. 31 through Sept. 3, 2009, at The Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The TigerSwitch SMC8126L2, which is part of SMC's latest single family Managed Gigabit solution that features PoE and clustering, and is rated as one of Instat's power efficient switch families, is a high-performance managed layer 2 switch featuring 26 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 SFP combo ports for fiber connectivity. This new TigerSwitch will be incorporated into a demonstration that will showcase the capabilities of the IBM CloudBurst 1.1 solution, a complete IBM Service Management package that includes IBM BladeCenter(R), IBM System Storage, Tivoli(R) software, VMware(R) virtualization and services to create a secure, reliable, private cloud computing infrastructure.
